Author and scriptwriter
Graduated from the Danish Film School´s scriptwriting course in 1999. Started as a scriptwriter with a spectacular debut with the romantic comedy “Den eneste ene” (“The one and only”)(1999), directed by Susanne Bier. It became one of contemporary Danish films biggest audience hits.
Ever since, Kim Fupz has demonstrated an abundant productivity in collaboration with different directors and is side by side with Anders Thomas Jensen one of Denmarks leading scriptwriters. He has for many years found themes and conflicts from the contemporary daily- and family life, often focusing on strong women and weaker men.
Some of his biggest accomplishments are “Okay” (2003), directed by Jesper W. Nielsen with Paprika Steen as a dominating matron of the family, the prison film “Forbrydelser” (2004), directed by Annette K. Olesen and “En Soap” (2006) by Pernille Fischer Christensen, an unconventional love story, that won 11 festival prizes, among these the Silver bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
Kim has in the latest years worked abroad and has among other scripts, written “Perfect Sense” (UK, 2011) with Ewan McGregor, directed by David MacKenzie, “Happy End”, (Sweden, 2011) directed by Björn Runge and “Gnade” (Germany, 2012) directed by Matthias Glasner.
In the literary worlds he has written about 150 titles, comic books, and a long list of childrens books, youth novels, short story collections and novels, latest “William”, published by Gyldendal.
Kim Fupz received in 2003 an Honorary “Bodil” for his lifetime achievement in Danish Film.
